What is Wool Gathering Annual Retreat?

Wool Gathering is a four day craft retreat where we indulge our love of all things wool.  We gather together to learn, eat, laugh and relax. You can find out more here.

When and where is the Annual Retreat 2018 held?

In 2018 Wool Gathering Annual Retreat is being held at the beautiful and historic Tarndwarncoort – one of the most historic family farms in Victoria. It is situated near the town of Birregurra, approximately 1 1/2 hours south west of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.

Registration is the afternoon of Thursday 3rd May 2018 and the Gathering concludes after lunch on Sunday 6th May 2018.

What is included in the cost for the Annual Retreat?

The cost of a ticket to Wool Gathering 2018 is $725.

Included in this cost is three wool based craft classes, two farm tours (learn about the farm and meet the woolly critters), dinner on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, lunch on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and morning/afternoon teas.  As breakfasts will be at your accommodation venue they are not included in the Wool Gathering Ticket Price – maybe you just want to eat in your pj’s!

We will also have a treasure hunt with great prizes, a fashion parade, a special guest speaker, Teachers and Sponsor Market Place and the chance to create our special WG2018 yarn!  Oh – and don’t forget your arrival gift bag full of wonderful surprises.

Accommodation is not included in the cost of Wool Gathering as Tarndie was essentially a family home – a particularly beautiful family home – and not big enough to house all of us attending Wool Gathering. Therefore, you will be arranging your own accommodation in surrounding towns and locations.

Just a note for those who attended the 2017 Annual Retreat – we are not providing a transport bus for the 2018 Annual Retreat.

How do I buy a ticket for the Annual Retreat?

Good question! Saturday 11th November  2017 (5pm) tickets will be placed on sale. We will make the announcement to our mailing list and on all our social media platforms. Ticket numbers will be limited because we want to be able to provide great teacher to student ratios for all our classes so you receive lots of attention and maximise your class time – so don’t leave it too long before you decide you are coming!

Tickets will be sold through our Big Cartel shop and payment will be through Paypal. Paypal payments require either a Paypal account or a credit card.

How do I choose my classes for the Annual Retreat?

During Wool Gathering you will have an opportunity to participate in three wool based classes.  Areas of fun are knitting, crochet, spinning, yarn dyeing, wool embroidery, Saori weaving and recycling.

After you have secured your ticket to Wool Gathering by paying your deposit and receiving an email acknowledgement, we will email you an Attendee Details Form for completion. For each class time slot we will ask you to nominate three class preferences.  Rest assured that we will endeavour to give you your first preference wherever possible but can’t guarantee that you’ll receive all your first preferences as some classes are extremely popular. Once classes have been allocated it will not be possible to change.

We will email you the classes you have been booked into, details of materials you need to purchase and any class materials fees that need to be paid. Additionally, you can find class material requirements and fees listed on each class description page.

What is the Annual Retreat 2018 Refund & Cancellation Policy?

A deposit of $275 is payable when you purchase your ticket with the balance of $450 payable by 5pm Saturday 3rd March 2018.  After Saturday 3rd March 2018 all tickets are purchasable for the full ticket price of $725. Class Materials fees are payable in full by 5pm Saturday 3rd March 2018.

Ticket cancellations are permissible up to 5pm Saturday 3rd February 2018. Tickets cancelled prior to this date will be issued a refund of money paid – less an administration fee of $200. Notification of cancellation must be given in writing. You are able to transfer your ticket to another to attend in your place up to 5pm Wednesday 4th April 2018. Please advise us in writing of the new attendees details so we can communicate with them directly. All transferred tickets will retain the same class allocation as the original ticket holder. Class Materials fees are non refundable after 5pm Saturday 3rd February 2018.

After 5pm Saturday 3rd February 2018 no refund of any money paid will be issued. Cancelled tickets not transferred to another attendee will be considered void and available for resale after 5pm Wednesday 4th April 2018.

Please note: The ticket price of Wool Gathering covers many activities, including meals, classes and other events. While we will endeavour to allocate your classes based on your first preferences we may not always be able to do so. Therefore, please buy your ticket understanding that we can’t issue a refund based on class preferences.

In the case of acts of God, war, disaster or unforeseen circumstances, Wool Gathering reserves the right to cancel the event. If Wool Gathering cancels the event due to unforeseen circumstances you will be issued a full refund of all moneys paid. 

Accommodation booked and paid for directly through Wool Gathering is subject to the above cancellation, transfer and refund dates and conditions. Cancelled accommodation bookings will incur an administration fee of $75.

We are not able to refund the cost of your independently organised accommodation or transport so please take adequate travel insurance if you would like to feel more secure and covered.

What is Wool, Wine & Workshops?

You are invited to join Wool Gathering and Tarndie for a series of events designed to strengthen knowledge, community and skills.

Wool, Wine & Workshops is a joint venture between Wool Gathering and Tarndie – a celebration of warm wool, fabulous community and creative instruction. It’s an opportunity for you to gather together with like minded folk to share your love of wool, wonderful food and wine, learn a new wool based craft and listen to guest speakers as they tell you about different aspects of this wool based industry we all love so much.

You can pick and choose to create your Wool, Wine & Workshop experience. From June to October 2017 there are a series of Sit & Knits and Workshop dates available for you to choose between – or maybe you’d like to do them all! And, to add some wonderful luxury, you may like to pamper yourself and a non-crafty ‘significant other’ and add a sleepover for a night or two in Tarndie’s historic Homestead – can you hear the creak and groan of the olde floorboards?!?!

So, what will it be? A Sit & Knit? A Workshop? Or maybe a Sit & Knit + Accommodation? Or a whole weekend of woolly wonderful with a Sit & Knit + Accommodation + Workshop?

Can my children stay in the Homestead during Wool, Wine & Workshops?

Part of the olde world charm of the Homestead are the wonderful vintage and antique heirlooms that are on show. The Homestead also has two internal staircases – one of them quite steep. Therefore, in the interest of safety, the Homestead is only available to adults for accommodation.

How do I choose my Wool, Wine & Workshops workshops?

When you purchase a ticket to Wool, Wine & Workshops workshops a drop down menu will appear. You select your workshop of choice and add it to your cart. If you would like to do two workshops (one on each Sunday in the Wool, Wine & Workshops programme) simply add two separate products to the shopping cart.

What is Wool, Wine & Workshops deposit and cancellation policy?

We are taking no deposits for any Wool, Wine & Workshops activities – all Sit & Knit, Workshops and Accommodation costs are payable in full at the time of booking.

Once your ticket has been purchased there are no refunds for change of mind or change of circumstances. However, tickets are transferable to another person up to 5 days before each Sit & Knit Saturday date, each Workshop Sunday date and each Accommodation reservation. We must be notified by email of all changes. You are unable to transfer your ticket to another workshop within the Wool, Wine & Workshop programme of events if you cannot attend the Workshop for which you have purchased a ticket. If you cancel your ticket and have not notified us of a transfer to another person 5 days prior to the Sit & Knit or Workshop or Accommodation event date, your booking is voided and your ticket cancelled. If Wool Gathering and Tarndie cancel your Workshop due to lack of minimum student numbers (minimum of 3 students for a workshop to be run) you will be issued a full refund of your Workshop Ticket cost. Alternatively, subject to workshop availability, if a workshop is cancelled by Wool Gathering and Tarndie you can transfer into another workshop within the Wool, Wine & Workshop 2017 workshop programme.

Additionally, accommodation bookings are transferable to another date within the Wool, Wine & Workshop programme of dates (Saturday 17th June – Sunday 1st October 2017) subject to room availability compatible with your room type/style booking.

In the case of acts of God, war, disaster or unforeseen circumstances, Wool Gathering and Tarndie reserve the right to reschedule the event. If Wool Gathering and Tarndie cancel any event due to unforeseen circumstances you will be issued a refund of your booking fees.

Do you cater for special dietary needs?

Absolutely!  Yummy food is one of the Wool Gathering indulgences and we don’t want anyone to suffer anything other than possible fun overload!  On the Attendee Details Form (emailed shortly after you purchase a ticket to one of our events) is a section where you can tell us anything we need to know about any dietary concerns you may have. Note, there may be a necessary surcharge for special dietary requirements.

What happens if Wool Gathering events are cancelled?

It would be very sad for us all! However, we do reserve the right to cancel Wool Gathering events. Should we need to do so you will be entitled to a full refund of your payments.  However, we are not able to refund the cost of your independently organised accommodation or transport so please take adequate travel insurance if you would like to be feel more secure and covered.
